Northern Walnut Creek Phase 1

This is one of the newest available trails in the city of Austin trails system. It is a short 3 mile path for now, the city has plans to add on more and with the additional work on Mopac the future is hopeful for a very intricate trail system in North Austin. That's all down the road, for now the trail connects Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park and ends just past Mopac frontage road. there is a turn around at that point, the future plans are to connect to the Balcones District Park which is just a little further.

This is a busy trail as word is getting out about it's mostly finished status so be extra careful trying to speed through here for a few reasons. One is that most of the trail is an off leash area for dogs, dogs are not always a skaters friend so be careful with that as I have been chased on more than one occasion and also had to deal with dogs shooting across the trails in various directions. Which brings me to my other point on this trail, there are mountain bike trails intersecting the entire length so be prepared to deal with them shooting onto or across the main path. There are 2 fun hills you can get some nice speed on and overall its nice enough scenic skate.

Don't pay attention to the 29.53 mile distance, I had to use a previous training map to be able to display the entire trail, apparently Google and Endomondo are unaware of the trails new connections and distance. I BEAT THE MACHINE.
