To the Park and Back

Another Pflugerville trail, this time venturing out of town towards Northeast Metro Park. The trail head will be familiar for those who have ridden the “Pflugerloop” route. Once you cross the street and get on the trail you will notice a substantial difference in the quality of the concrete and the width of the path. If it's not windy this is an excellent trail to let loose on , if it is windy you will be fighting all the way to Northeast Metro Park as this is seemingly no man's land, nothing but open fields and no wind breaks. The path is super easy to follow until you get to the heart of the park where there has been some construction. Just jump on the road, ride that and the trail will join back up by the covered basketball courts. Once you are in the park the trail surface will change a little, it will be a mix of older concrete and newer, the width will narrow slightly but still plenty wide to get into a good stride.

A cool highlight for this route is the concrete loop that ends the trail in the park, I like to just do the loop itself a few times like a big track lap. There's a really nice turn within the loop that you can really get into your crossovers and feel all Bart Swing's like. After that it's just a matter of doubling back and heading back to the car for the day, or you can always join up with the “Pflugerloop” and add that much more mileage to your log. There is a short climb relatively early but you can also look forward to taking that same hill into the home stretch, if you feel like being done for the day. If not keep reading these trail reports for the Pflugerville Master trail. Trailhead:
